Re-rolled my Blogroll

Thursday, November 6th, 2003

I played around a bit with my blogroll this morning. Moby didn’t make the cut, so he’s gone. I hated having to click so many times to get to where I wanted to be, so I never bothered reading it. Photo Friday also fell off the blog, since I haven’t contributed anything there in quite a while, and I never bother to look at the others unless I’ve got something of my own there. Deb’s Blog almost went away because she was updating so infrequently that I just stopped checking, but I checked this morning and she has a pretty new design and is updating several times a day now, so maybe I’ll check in more often. Heather Champ’s link got fixed so it goes to her new blog, so pay her a visit. And then, I added one new blog: Mezzoblue, home of Dave Shea (the guy who runs CSS Zen Garden).

Speaking of the Garden, Dave’s posted ~seven~ new designs since I last linked, so go check it out. Of the new ones, zenlightenment by Lance Leonard is probably my favorite. Many of the new skins are just designers having fun with CSS, which is what the site’s all about, but not what I’m looking for when I visit. My favorites are always the designers who create something beautiful that is also usable. Several of the new ones, in my opinion, wouldn’t be usable as a real design.

Considering how often I link to the Zen Garden, I should probably just put it in my blogroll. But I can’t at the moment, cause then I’d have to go up and edit that first paragraph, and that sounds like a lot of work. And work is not what God made mornings for. *g* So instead, I’m going to go shower. No time for Kashi. :(

Paging Doc Zombie

Saturday, November 1st, 2003

Megan and I are going to a Halloween party tonight over on 6th Avenue (that’s Justin, JJ, Jordan and Mark’s place). Neither of us have the money for real costumes (alas! I was going to go as Aragorn), so I’ve been playing around with costume ideas using what we’ve got here while she’s at work. So far, my best idea is to get all dressed up in nice clothes and go as Dr. Rob. Might as well see if I look good dressed as an academic, right?

Of course, over there, everybody calls me Zombie, which makes me think I should go as one. It’s a nickname that Justin gave me when we were roommates in Towers. Nicknames are funny things. I’m called Zombie because I don’t care for the music of Rob Zombie. Justin’s called Tiny, though he’s at least five inches taller and eighty pounds heavier than me, because he IS tiny compared to the ISU football players that gave him the name. JJ is called JJ by everyone I know, but his real name is Arturo.

But I don’t have any zombie makeup, and I don’t want to spend money on any when I could be buying more oatmeal or something, so I’ll probably just go as Dr. Rob. Perhaps I’ll compromise and call myself Doc Zombie. :)

Oatmeal for Lunch

Saturday, November 1st, 2003

I don’t like oatmeal, and it’s the only thing in the house I can find to eat. :(

And it’s not like we just have a tiny bit of oatmeal. We have four containers full of the stuff. Megan eats it once or twice a week, so we should be good on oatmeal until around 2008.

But seriously. All we’ve really got is oatmeal. And then a quarter-box of mostaccioli noodles, a pickle, seven eggs, a box of saltine crackers, two dried-out flour tortillas, some grape nuts and about fifteen different kinds of condiments. I don’t suppose anyone can think of a good meal to make out of all that?

Maybe it’s time to go grocery shopping again.
